General Meeting of Dachverband Tanz Deutschland

On behalf of dancersconnect, Friedrich Pohl attends a meeting of the members of the Dachverband for the first time as a guest. As part of the debate "Ethics in Dance", dancersconnect is invited to present the initiative and share its view on the issue. Friedrich Pohl emphasizes that the improvement and renewal of regulations is only one step. At the moment even the implementation of health protection and existing laws is extremely problematic in dance due to the dancers’ weak position as employees. Dancersconnect sees this as a general threat to the art form. Friedrich Pohl urges the participants to recognize the central role of the active protagonists and their significant role for future generations. The plenum of the Dachverband cohesively expresses agreement and support.
14th Congress for Dance Medicine

Dominic Hodal is invited as an active dancer and representative of dancersconnect, to participate in a panel discussion closing the three-day congress. The preceding lecture block deals with the implementation of health care in the everyday life of professional dancers. In this context, especially the autonomy of dancers in regard to hierarchical structures, despotic ways of leadership and fear of non-elongation is critically discussed. The participants highly welcome and support that dancers themselves start to address issues related to professional relationships in dance as well as to voice their concerns and interests.
1st Meeting of the Bundesdeutscher Tanzvorstand (Federal German Dance Board)

The board members are discussing task distribution, as well as ways of communication and decision-making - especially with regard to large physical distances. The content of the debate focuses on the dancers’ constant fear of non-elongation, preventing them from communicating their problems and needs openly. The members thoroughly debate about permanent contracts as a possible solution to this basic problem. In addition, they talk about possibilities for a financial base of the network, public relation - and above all more constant contact with even more dance ensembles.
Bundesdeutsche Ballett- und Tanztheaterdirektorenkonferenz

Representatives of Bundesdeutscher Tanzvorstand (Federal German Dance Board) have the opportunity to introduce the platform dancersconnect for the first time. The directors and managers of German ballet and dance companies appreciate the initiative. Through closer communication between all those involved, they see great opportunities for the entire dance branch. Marc Grandmontagne (president of the German Theatre and Orchestra Association) acknowledges that amongst the theatre branches, dancers are in the greatest need for improvement with regard to their contractual situation. The BBTK and dancersconnect in direct partnership, want to discuss and tackle problems that dancers face. The BBTK states that they will invite board representatives of dancersconnect to each conference from now on.
